The Rock ‘n Roller
Well, we played our rock ‘n roll.
And all of us got down.
We laughed and put the dudes to shame.
Brought glitter to the towns.
Riding high, I didn’t see
The trouble brewing underneath.
Egos clashed and there was a constant fight
To see who could take over and be in the spotlight.
We were working so hard
We were trying to make it.
We even played some mellow things.
But we were faking it.
Our money was funny
And there were always a lot of stupid mothers around
Bringing me down.
Bringing me down.
The shine wore off the Spangle.
It seemed like everybody was flippin’ out.
The hook in Baby dangled.
But still we managed a smile.
Nose o.d.’d on everything
From T. to alcohol.
And me, I didn’t say much.
I just hung around the mall.
But I have learned to take the knocks.
I’ve handed out a few myself.
So don’t be fooled by these locks.
I’m not the one to melt.
You know I’d like to be with you
But I’m sorry I can’t stay.
I want to be a rock ‘n roller.
I hope you’ll understand someday.
I want to be a rock ‘n roller.
I want to be a rock ‘n roller.
I want to be a rock ‘n roller.
I want to be a rock ‘n roller.
